Marc is an experienced arbitrator in international and domestic commercial cases. He regularly acts as sole arbitrator, as a party-appointee on three-member panels, and as presiding arbitrator. Based on his long experience as an advocate in matters involving financial services and products, Marc is sought out to serve in matters involving the financial services sector.
He recently issued a final award in a matter involving corporate governance within a hedge fund and related issued of alleged improper securities trading. Marc's other current and recent cases as arbitrator have involved securities fraud, mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, currency and options trading, real estate investment, engineering, and international commercial banking.
Marc regularly writes commentaries on arbitration law and practice for his Arbitration Commentaries site and other publications. He follows the closely developments in the rules, protocols, and guidelines of major arbitral institutions.
Among his many "arbitration community" activities, Marc is a member of the Members' Consultative Group for the American Law Institute's draft Restatement (Third) of the Law of International Commercial Arbitration.
Marc is listed on various arbitrator rosters, including three of the CPR Distinguished Panels of Neutrals (International; Banking, Finance and Accounting; Entertainment). He is on the international and large/complex case panels of the American Arbitration Association, the international arbitrator rosters of the Singapore and Hong Kong International Arbitration Centres, and is listed in the arbitrator database of the U.S. national committee of the International Chamber of Commerce Court of Arbitration.
Marc's other "arbitration community" activities include serving as a member of the New York Branch executive committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators, and a teaching faculty member of the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy and of the Osgoode Hall Law School Professional Development Program.
